Charmaine "Charlie" Brown, DVM, co-owner of Annabessacook Veterinary Clinic, is originally from Nebraska. Dr. Brown graduated from Iowa State School of Veterinary Medicine in 1986 . She joined Annabessacook shortly thereafter becoming a partner and developing the practice into what it is today. She is an accomplished equine and small animal surgeon who is also focused on the latest in modern equine medicine. Dr. Brown also owns KDM Farm, her equine reproductive facility, which is just a few miles from the clinic. Aside from Maine, she is licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Florida and Nebraska. When Dr. Brown is away from the clinic, she enjoys riding her horses or her Harley and she loves to go scuba diving in the warm waters of the sunny tropics. Charlie's new addition to her family, Rossi, a labrador mix, also keeps her busy.
Jeff Fay, DVM, PhD., started his veterinary career after earning his Ph.D. in Reproduction and Endocrinology at the University of Kentucky. He then earned his DVM at Colorado State University and has been practicing here at ABC since February 1995. In January of 2013 he also became certified in veterinary acupuncture, and has been working with our equine and canine patients. He lives with his wife Linda and their corgi and miniature dachshund and three horses. He loves to spend time with his daughters and their competitive equestrian activities.
Karilyn Bonney, VMD joined the equine team in September of 2011. She is originally from Wayne, Maine and has been enjoying practicing veterinary medicine in her home state since graduating from the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary medicine. She shares her spare time with her husband Jim, "best dog ever" Mattie, and her horses Maggie and Creamsicle. She enjoys horseback riding and being outdoors.
Meghan Flanagan, DVM is excited to be joining the Large Animal team at Annabessacook Veterinary Clinic. She is a 2010 graduate of Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. She will help expand ABC's services into the world of food and fiber animals (cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, etc). She enjoys ultrasound work as well as farm animal preventative care and surgery. When not working on dairy and beef cows in the area, she and her husband spend their time enjoying the outdoors in a variety of activities or working with their sheep and gardens at home. They are happily settled in Livermore, with their dog Mona, cat Spooky and other creatures!
Kelsey Hilton, VMD is a Maine native who grew up on a small farm in Starks where her family raised Hereford cattle, sheep and horses. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2012 and practiced in central Maine before joining Annabessacook in 2015. She has broad interests, from dairy production work, goat medicine, camelid and small ruminant care to equine internal medicine and ultrasound. She loves cows and horses, and spends her free time riding her warmblood mare, hiking, canoeing and skiing.
Jana Zwetsloot, DVM or "Dr. Z" is the newest member of our large animal team and is excited to be practicing back in Maine! Jana grew up in Bucksport, but has spent a lot of time in Western and Southern Maine in recent years. Her veterinary interests include equine and food animal medicine. She graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island in 2016 and now lives in North Monmouth with her husband, Mark, their dog Laywriby, and their two cats Floyd and Screnels. When she is not working, she enjoys running, snowboarding, cooking, traveling abroad and spending time with her family.
Conrad Boulton, DVM is a 1976 graduate of Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He completed a surgical residency at the University of Missouri and has been a member of the surgical faculty of both the University of Missouri and Washington State University. As a member of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons Dr. Boulton is a specialist who adds over 25 years of experience in equine surgery to our team. He has practiced on both the East and West coast gaining experience with all breeds.
