Kristie Hutchinson: Equine Office Manager & Licensed Veterinary Technician- Kristie is a veteran at Annabessacook Veterinary Clinic with experience in various positions in her tenure here at the clinic with her special touch in phlebotomy. She started as the sole Vet tech for the 3 doctor practice in 1990, and as the practice grew to seven Vets and developed into two distinct departments for Small Animal and Equine clientele, she became the Equine Office Manager. She grew up riding horses through high school and competed briefly in the SUNY college circuit. Kristie has grown up with cats at her side but over the past couple of years has turned to Dog Agility as a family sport with their Border Collies, Sofee, Apollo and Midge. Kristie also opened a home-based business in 2002, “K’s Custom Embroidery” in Readfield which specializes in unique and personalized embroidered gifts. Kristie started her family in 1997 and her daughter Molly enjoys animals much like her mother. Along with 2 grown stepdaughters, Kasey and Erica, the family just gained a new generation with the birth of Kristie's grandson James! Otherwise she enjoys spending her free time with her husband, Mark, and family snowshoeing, jet-skiing, 4-wheeling, camping, gardening, kayaking; and in the quieter moments scrap-booking their adventures.

 



 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mel Merchant: Receptionist - Mel started with us as a receptionist in September of 2016. She worked for Annabessacook Vet as a large animal technician from 2004-2013! Mel now lives in New Sharon with her Husband Ray, her stepson Levi and her two dogs Bailey and Remington. She also has two horses, Pooh and Belle that she loves to ride in her spare time!

Bethany Drouin: Veterinary Assistant/Technician- Beth is a native of Monmouth and studied at the University of Southern Maine. She has been a major part of our equine team since 1998. At the clinic, you can find her running labwork, assisting the surgical team, and any number of medical treatments. Beth lives with her husband Chad, and their two children, Trent and Addison. They have a dog named Ralfie, a kitty named Lisbon, a horse named Prize, and a miniature horse named Charlie. Beth enjoys riding, and spending time with her family, including mini-golfing with Trent and anything horse-related with Addie.


                  

Felicia "Boo" Whitten: Veterinary Assistant/Technician- Boo joined our Equine team in February of 2012. Boo is a native of Winthrop and has spent 11 years in the Army reserves. She also had two Bachelor's degrees. She currently works at R.T. Farms in her spare time. In her even sparer time, she enjoys hunting, boating, deep sea fishing, and riding her motorcycle. Boo shares her life with an adorable puppy named Chunk who befriends everybody, 2 kitties Audie and Murphy, 2 bunnies Cadbury and Fluffernutter, 2 chinchillas RK and Ruby, and 3 horses Tude, Rayne, and Sheba.


 















 

Marissa Hutchinson: Veterinary Assistant/Technician - Marissa is our most recent member of our Equine team, having joined us in May 2013, after working here as a Technician Intern for 2 months. She graduated from the University of Maine-Bangor with an Associates of Science in Veterinary Technology. She plans to complete her Veterinary Technician's license soon. Marissa was born in Cape cod, MA, moved to Maine during the 5th grade, and has no intentions of leaving! Marissa trained in both small animal and equine work, but her long-time love and interest in horses drew her to our equine clinic. She couldn't be happier! When not working with our equine patients, you may find Marissa hiking, kayaking, snowmobiling, or spending time with family, friends, and her best friend/boyfriend, Dakota. Her multiple pets round out her life: Destiny the dog, Smokey and Junior the cats, plus ducks, chickens, and guinea hens! The newest addition to her family is a French bulldog named Spike!!




Chunk: Clinic Mascot/Babysitter Chunk comes with his mom, Boo, everyday to the clinic and you will often be greeted by him when you come into the large animal office. Chunk is a registered therapy dog! Chunk enjoys long walks and bird hunting.  His favorite animals are baby goats.
