Our Practice: Our veterinary hospital has a large animal clinic and a small animal clinic.  Students may set up externships with either clinic or both depending on their interests.   The large animal clinic is predominantly ambulatory but we have a 15 stall barn for in-house critical care and medicine cases as well. The large animal clinic has three equine veterinarians, two food and fiber animal veterinarians and four technicians.  The small animal clinic sees a variety of animals including dogs, cats, rabbits and pocket pets.  The small animal clinic has three veterinarians and five technicians.

Type of Practice: Our large animal clinic is 50% equine, 50% food and fiber animal. Our doctors are often on the road doing ambulatory calls, or in the clinic managing hospital cases. We are also a referral hospital, and the only practice in the state that does complex surgeries such as colic and arthroscopic surgeries.
Our small animal clinic provides routine care and complex medical workups as well as routine and emergency surgeries such as spay/ neuter and foreign body removal.

Facilities: Our large animal facility offers a 15 stall hospital, an indoor arena, surgery suite, stocks, indoor treatment, endoscope, shock wave, digital radiography, ultrasound, and more. Our small animal facility offers three exam rooms, a surgery suite, digital radiography

Goals of Externship:  Our goal is to provide an educational private practice experience for students interested primarily in the ambulatory equine industry of veterinary medicine or a private practice experience for students interested in small animal medicine.  Students who are interested in both are welcome to split their time between the clinics.
